Neurobic Exercies 1

Hi everybody, ready to “play” and live your daily life in a different way?

I hope you’ll enjoy!

What makes an exercise Neurobic? It should do one or more of the following:

1) Involve one or more of your senses in a novel context. Force yourself to rely on other sense to do an ordinary task, for example get dressed for work with your eyes closed.

2) Engage your attention. Make your brain go into alert mode with an unusual, fun, surprising, meaningful activity. For example take your child, spouse or parent to your office for the day.

3) Break a routine activity in an expected nontrivial way. For example take a completely new route to work.
Neurobic Exercise # 1: shower with your eyes closed

Locate the taps and adjust the temperature and flow using just your tactile senses. (Make sure your balance is good before you try this and use common sense to avoid burning or injury.) In the shower locate all necessary props by feel, then wash, and so on, with your eyes shut. Your hands will probably notice varied textures of your own body you aren’t aware of when you are “looking”.

Neurobic Exercise # 2: get dressed with your eyes closed

Lay out your wardrobe the night before (or have someone lay it out for you). Then with your eyes closed, use only tactile associations to distinguish and put on pants, dress, socks, or panty hose, etc.

These are the first two Neurobic Exercises suggested. You can start with them if you like, the same day or in different days.

In the next blog other fun and very useful exercise to train our brain!
